History
| Personal History | Akira was born in 2350 in Miyazu, in the Kyoto Prefecture of Japan on Earth. The second of four children and oldest daughter born to historian Hikaru Sato and career Starfleet officer Mitsu Sato, Akira was raised to understand honor, respect, and loyalty. Her father was a traditionalist who believed that even with the advancements that humanity had made a person should value honor above everything else. Because of this, Akira grew up to understand that nothing should be taken for granted. She grew up in the Kyoto Prefecture with her father until her fifteenth birthday, when she and her older brother Takumi were allowed to move in with their mother on board her command, the Nebula class star ship U.S.S. Syren. Being exposed to Starfleet and the Federation at an early age, Akira and her brother had always expressed a desire to join in her mother's footsteps and so they were allowed to study a number of subjects that were required knowledge by Starfleet. Their father didn't approve of either the decision to allow Akira and Takumi to live on the Syren with their mother or their decision to join Starfleet. However, he finally agreed to support their decision once both Akira and Takumi agreed to serve with honor as their mother had done. At the age of eighteen, Akira was accepted into Starfleet Academy. |
